Saints Alive | Year 7

Year 7 have been looking at the work of Michael Landy and creating their own super saints in response to the Saints Alive show at the National Gallery.

Saatchi Gallery Competition - a chance to win £10,000!

The Saatchi Gallery / Deutsche Bank Art Prize for Schools is open to primary, secondary and sixth form schools from around the world who are invited to submit art work from students up to the age of 18. Schools can enter as many art works as they wish, and there is no prescribed theme for works entered nor is there a restriction on media used (sculpture, painting, installation, photography and mixed media art works are all eligible and welcome). All work created in the academic year 2012/13 and 2013/14 is eligible. Entries must be submitted online.

The shortlist of schools and entries will be featured in an exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in February 2014 where the winner will be announced.

A first prize of £10,000 will be awarded to the winning school's art department, with a further £2,000 given to the winning pupil to be spent on art and computer equipment. Two further runner-up prizes of £5,000 each will be awarded to the second and third placed schools, with a further £1,000 to each of the winning pupils.

The deadline for entries is 6pm Monday 13 January 2014.

Year 9 Plaster Portraits inspired by Tactile Studios artist Rachel Dein

Students responded to the cast work of Rachel Dein by casting objects that represented them.

Year 10 have been analysing the work of Lucian Freud to inspire portraits of their family members.

We would like to congratulate the outstanding achievements at GCSE and A Level 2013.  We are extremely proud of our committed and talented Art students.

GCSE and A Level students enjoy an exhibition workshop at the RCA

 The workshop was all about texture- drawing, talking, thinking and seeing textures. We started out the day in the Sculpture building at Battersea which had some fantastic work and textures to offer! The group started out with a texture hunt. Each student was given a texture related word to try and hunt down within the show. All the students came up with some brilliant responses to the words that they were given.
